Memorial Day Blessing

Remember what this holiday is all about, those who sacrificed everything for our freedom.
We share this from Siena College.
A Memorial Day Blessing

Good and Gracious God,

Creator of humanity and author of peace

We are mindful of the cost paid for the liberty we possess.

As we approach Memorial Day weekend, we remember those who have given their lives in the service of our country.

We pray for all those who courageously laid down their lives for the cause of freedom.

May the examples of their sacrifice inspire in us the selfless love of Your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Bless the families of our fallen troops, and fill their homes and their lives with your strength and peace.

May they ever experience your firm support, gentle love and compassionate healing.

In fraternity with people of goodwill of every nation, embolden us to be instruments of peace, bringing love where there is hatred, light where there is darkness, hope where there is despair, joy where there is sadness and pardon where there is injury.

We ask this through your Most Holy Name.

Amen

Siena College Chaplain Fr. Larry Anderson, OFM
