Spain’s Reformed Dems Fined-File 8 Late Financial Statements

It began Monday with the late filing of a No Activity Statement by Spain’s reformed democrats. The filing was the result of a $500 fine first imposed on his committee and then reduced after he filed 7 additional late reports spanning the year 2007.

Yes, it took State enforcement, a fine, constant public pressure by fellow Democrats and an inquiring news media to compel his disclosure of an assortment of development and GOP interests to his committee over the past year. No surprise considering he endorsed the GOP slate and continues to function as a Republican operative whose stated goal is to turn RT 4 into another "Wolf Road".

We have only begun to analyze the multiple late filings, but we just loved his $1500 expenditure posted for April 2007 for his favorite attorney, the one with a criminal record he help put on the town payroll representing us in town court prosecuting others charged with offenses. Of course the problem is that the attorney appears to be paid with party funds for work he performed before Spain took over at the end of January. Either that or he used party funds to hold an unlawful purge trial of his commitee dissenters. Which ever, he looks bad.

So after some 250 days without filing, the party chairman, fined, humiliated by the State, and press is forced to obey the law. Party funds wasted on a State imposed fine and an attorney with a criminal record the recipient of $3000 in party funds. Makes you proud to be a Democrat.

Here is the link to his late filings. (The check for his fine is not yet posted!)
