Well it’s a job befitting of a party vice chairman, painting the walls in town hall. It was a sighting of the Democratic Vice Chairman Ed Cassino, hired in a 4-1 vote to a job that wasn’t needed in town hall. You may recall that Supervisor Evers and he had some words in the hall just before last month’s board meeting in which the appointment was made. Those words included expletives that we can’t print here which were leveled at Evers in the corridor. So it should not come as a surprise that Evers is keeping an eye on Cassino and directing some behind the scenes chores in the hope that Cassino will quit. Nothing like a little friction to keep town hall interesting.
.
As for Ed, well he's experiencing that "buyers remorse" so many Democrats discovered after being told one thing by Evers to gain support, only to find him turn his back on those pledges once elected. Case in point, the Comprehensive Plan which he assured Democrats who endorsed him in 2005 he supported wholeheartedly. After the election he worked feverishly to impede its progress as he got into bed with he development community. By the way, nice work Ed. You may need a second coat on the sign.
Where was Lou Desso?
Word has spread of the continuing bad relationship between Lou Desso and Mark Evers. Desso’s absence from the Association of Town’s meeting in New York is said to be due to his desire to avoid Evers. Much of the animosity is said to be related to Desso’s refusal to pay retainage to his Conservative benefactor, the contractor in Water 14. Desso’s refusal to join Evers prevented the third vote needed to make the payment and Evers arrogance has placed the issue on the agenda at least 4 times since January including 3 special meetings, one of which was called off at the last minute because Evers could not bully Desso for the third vote.

Ehrlich Continues Fight for State GOP
Democratic Chair Jeff Spain's choice for a town attorney's spot has been busy helping Republicans keep control of the State Senate. The attorney with the criminal record who is part of Tom Connolly's team represented Republican interests in a western New York Senate race being held today. Connolly is Joe Bruno's puppet placed on the State Senate payroll and installed as Chair of the Rensselaer County Independence Party.

Ehrlich represented the GOP in court to get the GOP candidate the Independence line in that special election. Read about it here.
Newsletter
A newsletter is circulating in town authored by those “unreformed” democrats who oppose endorsing Republicans. It has several articles on the mess in town hall, the efforts to thwart the Comprehensive Plan and Councilman Spain’s vote to place brother Jeff on the town IDA where all those loans are given out. A great place to put a party chair, hey?
