Evers Manipulates Planning Board to Obstruct Passage of Comprehensive Plan
Once again we witness the Evers legacy of using obstruction and questionable tactics to get his way on every conceivable issue. This time his loyalists on the Planning Board were used to try and stop the Town Board from carrying out its role as the declared “lead agency” regarding SEQR by declaring itself lead agency.
Leading the charge was Bill Madsen, the right hand man of Mark Evers, who had his hand in both factions of the Democratic Committee battle last year apparently pledging his support to the Ashley side while doing the same to the Spain side. Madsen rushed through a declaration whereby the Planning Board declared itself lead agency despite the fact that the elected Town Board had already designated itself as lead agency at the last meeting.
What was supposed to be a mere discussion became a rush to bad judgement which utterly ignored the law and the legal advice of the Planning Board Attorney who clearly informed the members that the move was ill advised and improper.Imagine, a board appointed by the elected Town Board trying to ride shotgun over those who appointed them.
It’s all part of Evers efforts to stop the one thing that worked well despite his efforts to obstruct and confuse a two year long effort to produce a Comprehensive Plan for North Greenbush. The vote was 4 in favor and 2 opposed. Joining Madsen were Greg DiJulio,John Hanlon and Mary Jude Foley who apparently is trying to curry favor with Evers to be reappointed. Opposing were Fred Ashworth, the Chairman and Brian Dwyer.
It is likely that the Town Board majority will simply ignore the action and proceed with the Public Hearing and a decision to adopt, modify, oppose or approve on Dec 13th one day after the scheduled Public Hearing on Dec 12th.
One more tid bit making the rounds is that the ever obnoxious former Planning Board member James Reed is now bragging that he will be reappointed to the Planning Board next year. How funny that would be, putting part of the Mandell-Clemente Town Records Moving Team back on the board after accepting a plea bargain from the Special Prosecutor requiring his resignation from that Board as a condition of the disposition of charges. You may recall that Reed, Clemente, Evelyn Kohler and company were caught with light fingers leaving footsteps in the snow during the New Year’s Day swearing in ceremony after their defeat in the 2005 town election. We can only hope the Evers majority is that brain dead.
Milestone
This is the 200th posting of the North Greenbush Pipeline.
