You may have seen the town GOP billboard on Main Avenue. It promotes their slate by stating they will keep the town "moving forward". For years the GOP has been financed by developers thru the soon to be retired Supervisor, Lou Desso. The unprecedented amounts of money collected by Lou Desso from developers has, in the minds of the GOP, moved the town forward.
That's not to say that every Democrat running this year in North Greenbush is without financial ties to developers. The primary campaign made that clear. But you can easily envision a better picture of the town moving forward if you think about your daily commutes. A billboard with this picture might be more appropriate as you cast your votes.
Russian Lobbyist takes time to lobby Troy GOP mayor candidate to drop out
We saw the humor in this one right away. Rensselaer county Republicans squeezing their candidate for Troy mayor to drop out of the race. Among those present was none other than the $62,500 per month registered lobbyist and RCIDA attorney John Sweeney. Apparently his lobbying skills working for a Russian bank are tuned up because the Times Union reported that the meeting held in Troy GOP headquarters resulted in Tom Reale's announcement he was dropping out. We're told by our sources that Reale taped the meeting which includes some type of threat regarding his political future or job in the State Senate. Whatever, the FBI which is investigating one of those GOP operatives at the meeting, Richard Crist, is sure to love tapes. Yes, they love all kinds of tapes!
