Evers Tries to Triple His Salary Midterm

Never let it be said that Town Supervisor Mark Evers is shy when it comes to trying to get more money for his time in town hall. At a recent board meeting, we learned he helped himself to the town insurance and we wonder whether he contributes to the premiums? But the budget he had filed last Friday with the Town Clerk contained a whopping $42,000 increase in his salary as Supervisor, a 280% pay raise for Evers.

He is basically trying to triple his part time salary and declare himself a full time employee without any discussion from taxpayers when he was running last year for this 2 year term as Supervisor. Now whether fellow board members are going to go along with this lame duck pay grab is any one's guess and we would not presume how they will vote. However, Evers knew what the job paid when he ran and that it was part time and if he wanted full time pay and hours he should have had the guts to say so when he was running for the job and let voters decide.

How ironic that in the worst economic crisis in 40 years we find Mark Evers reaching into our pockets to ease the pain in his pocket. Unfortunately he is not alone and before we go into the numbers, we will wait for the Public Hearing on the budget which should expose all the raises being sought by all town officials.

For now, let's give Mark Evers an award to chutzpah! You can read about this story in the Troy Record here.
.
Ashley Elected Democratic Chairman
It wasn't close. Mark Evers worst nightmare came true as Dan Ashley was elected once again as Chairman of the town's Democratic Committee. The meeting was held last night in Troy.
We're sure Dan will be amused at Mark Evers pay grab as the Democratic Party has been removed from the clutches of Republican and Conservative operatives who backed Evers, Desso and Spain.
.
Oh yes, Ed Casino had himself nominated as the Spain crew's choice for Chairman despite a town ethics law that would force him to retire from his politically appointed job in town hall.
On a side note, Jeff Spain kept the check book refusing to turn it over at the meeting.
A press release on the election can be read here.

Mark Evers no more deserves the salary increase then I deserve to be President. After the Spain faction performance at the County Meeting- they should be ashamed of themselves. No Backbone- all fluff, All they could muster was abstentions. Oh, that's right- they were worried about retribution. People are sick and tired of being held hostage. A NEW DAY IS DAWNING.

I am surprised it took Evers this long to maneuver for a full time salary. He's been saying he wanted it to be full-time since he was elected, the ist time, with the help of the Democrats, I might add. Wat will they all do now, with Dan back in power. Will the Republicans continue to sell their own people down the river for these do-nothing, criminal types?
