Record Weighs in on Water 14 Settlement

We're sure this outside observation will do little to cause any concern for taxpayers on the part of the Conservative Majority on the town board. But the settlement proposal in Water 14 which obviously had already been agreed to behind the scenes by town lawyers prior to the hearing last week, is what it is, a complete sell out of town taxpayers. Read the Troy Record's take here.

Should the town board decide to spread the #14 cost over the entire town, they best keep in mind that some of us are already paying for water we don't have. My family does NOT live in a water district (can't hook on) and we pay approximately $50 a year for water we don't and can't have! Obvioulsy the town is inept at bringing in water and sewer so we're not holding our breath either. We'll continue to pay for something we don't have! How about it town board...expempt those of us already paying for someone else's water from the additional #14 charge?!

I agree that people who live outside of the water district should not have to pay for the additional charges.

However, I live in District 14. Eveytime I plant a petunia in the ground, I pull out a large rock or two out of my soil. Someone could have asked me if they were going to encounter a large amount of rocks on Sharpe Road before the plans for this water district were being made. I would have told them there would be rocks with every turn of the shovel!

Why should we have to pay, when others forgo doing their homework?

Greed. Corruption.

the record story is incorrect. in all nysdot contracts when there is an increase in materials cost the contractor can adjust his prices. actually some items dollars vaule are increased by dot as a normal part of the monthly est. payments.
