Witches Conduct A Witch Hunt

Move over Joseph Stalin, the so called Conservative Majority of the North Greenbush Town Board wants the authority of State government to investigate any citizen who dares reports the actions, statements and outrageous conduct by members of the town board.

The “Bait and Switch” game is on again, like the state audit of water 14 which lambastes the Supervisor and Building Department in particular but is revised by this crew to instead lambaste political opponents. This time those who documented the irresponsible claims of contamination on Main Avenue made by Evers and Kern made at a board meeting are targeted instead of the board members who made the claims in the first place. Citizens who reported those claims to fellow residents in a flier are now attacked as demons.

The trio ignores the fact that Evers and Kern said all of those things documented in the flier they are now blaming for creating undue fear among town residents. Maybe the trio can conduct another “purge trial” where they convict their enemies of various offenses and pronounce them dismembered as citizens with rights in North Greenbush. What they heck, Jeff Spain tried it with county Democratic Committee members he didn’t like and looked like a bigger fool than these "three stooges of town government", as described by CB Smith in today's Troy Record.
.
Too bad the trio doesn't ask for an investigation of those checks Evers wrote to the Conservative contractor in Water 14. More than a million dollars in overspending and some of the checks were improperly authorized. Maybe Mr. Desso could have himself investigated and explain his role in that absentee ballot scam he was involved in during the 2005 town election? Then again, that may all come out as the Albany County District Attorney continues his probe of Victory Lane which engineered the scam.

You can read about it in the Troy Record here.
Smith Responds to Spain, Desso and Kern
Posted 7:15 AM : We received this email from CB Smith which was a response to the Town Board inquisition request.
Democratic Committee member and life long Wynantskill resident Charles “CB” Smith reacted to the latest irresponsible attack on town residents who held Town Board members accountable.
These board members cannot tolerate anyone shinning light on their actions whether by documenting them in a flier, aloud at a board meeting or in a reporter’s byline.

It wasn’t the flier that made the irresponsible claims of contamination, it was Evers and Kern who created a picture of Main Avenue as another “Love Canal”. There is nothing in the flier that they did not personally state, as reported by the Troy Record. It’s like saying, “let’s investigate the Record for daring to report what these officials stated at the meeting”. The Record affirms the statements made by these officials at the meeting in it’s April 25th edition which includes these quotes:

“I fear that this will become a ghost town, and I’m really concerned as to what might happen to Main Avenue,” said Evers. “I’m concerned it will shut down more businesses that it will move forward.”

“Why put these senior citizens, businesses and home owners out of their homes,” said Kerns. “As far as I am concerned, I will never see this through.”

These officials are trying to intimidate anyone who reports their statements or holds them accountable by demanding the State investigate them. They represent a sorry and potentially dangerous mentality and town residents should not be afraid them.

These Board members would do better to demand an investigation of Evers’ check signing habits with over a million dollars of questionable payments to the contractor in Water 14 who runs the Conservative Party that endorsed these board members. Instead they try to deflect attention away from the reprehensible conduct of the Supervisor and Councilman Kern to anyone who dares to repeat their claims.

Rather than investigate the citizens who repeated the irresponsible claims, they should instead demand an apology from the Supervisor and Councilman who made them in the first place.

Shall they next ask the State to investigate the Troy Record and the other media outlets who reported the claims made by these officials as documented in the flier? Or are they only concerned with intimidating the people they fear the most, residents with the courage to hold them accountable?

Smith noted that Mark Evers avoided participation in the press release. Perhaps he had a tad more sense than his fellow board member who made the comments acting like “the three stooges of town government”.
