Shadow Government

Early Edition

Mr.’s Open Government aka Mark Evers, Ernie Kern, Al Spain and Lou Desso refuse to name the so called transition team that recommended the appointments of several controversial folks to town positions. They refuse to say who recommended an attorney to prosecute town cases who has a stellar criminal record. They refused to say if the transition team or they knew of the criminal record. They refused to say if there were more convictions not yet made public. They refuse to say whether they know if the attorney is on probation. The do however insist they hired the best people who applied. That means that this non resident attorney with a criminal record is a better person for the job than the town resident who held the job for the past two years with no criminal record and had a stellar record as a deputy town attorney.

Horse feathers! It’s time Mr. Evers and his gang come out of the shadows and do some explaining. Two of the finest judges in the county sit on our town court and this is nothing short of an embarrassment that won’t go away. So tell us Mr. Evers, who recommend these attorneys to you? Who told you to hire them and fire the two attorneys in the positions who did their jobs so well you fired them. Sounds a lot like George Bush firing those U.S. Attorneys doesn’t it? Replacing qualified people with political hacks who will likely play politics in the courts because politics pure and simply put them there.

Call the Supervisor’s Office and let him know how you feel. Tell him that attorneys with criminal records should not be prosecuting offenses in town court and represent our citizens. Tell him to disclose the names on his shadow government. Call him any time at 283-5313 or send him a letter by fax at 283-5345.

And what spoils they are, an attorney with a criminal conviction and a former judge removed from public office by the State's Highest Court and Commission on Judicial Conduct.
How proud you all must be!
