The North Greenbush Town Seal was designed by Kristin Young as a part of a contest when she was in grade school. Kristin now lives in Clifton Park. But her fondness for the town she grew up in remains as strong as the vision she had when she designed the seal that can be found on the town web page, townofng.com and behind the Supervisor's chair at Town Board meetings.
Kristin has been following the tragedy of Mark Evers total conversion to the development interests he campaigned against in 2005. Before he turned his back on those who worked tirelessly to elect him and the voters themselves. Kristin sees a new vision for North Greenbush under Mark Evers and his blank check development slate of Lou Desso and Al Spain. The trio with the personal labor of JR Casale and Ed Casino, has been busy putting up signs endorsing themselves as a slate that will "Bring North Greenbush Together". Together indeed, together under Casale Excavating and the development interests which are financing them. (No wonder Casale is personally putting up signs for his "Pay us more money slate!) The Democratic Committee refuses to disclose their financial report or contributors in violation of State law. Evers,Desso and Spain set up an illegal committee and held a fundraiser at the Elks last week failing to even register the PAC with the Board of Elections. All donations, SECRET! If not contributions, then perhaps we should call the money received a "kickback"?
So it's really no surprise that Kristin Young sees the North Greenbush Town Seal in a new light. Government of, for and by the developer. The standing trees of the original seal now cut down for the benefit of the still secret contributors to Evers, Desso and Spain. The stream running down the middle of the seal replaced with roadway complete with double yellow lines.
Without debate from a two party system, the 4 party bosses have attempted to end the election and hold a coronation. Only one unanticipated event kept them from stealing the election. Some 500 signatures collected by town residents who saw the plan and acted to ensure voter choice. That slate which supports the original town seal and all it envisioned about the quality of life in North Greenbush may be found on Row F.
Supervisor's Illegal Budget
Yesterday, we reported on the $300,000 deficit the Supervisor hid in his 2008 budget. Today the Times Union writes about the issue in the A Main Section.
Read it here.
We also urge you to read another Times Union article on the cross endorsement deal which plagues North Greenbush. Page two of the article can be found here.
Environmental "Record"

Candidate Lou Desso's past criminal conviction record, while not discussed by the candidate anywhere in his announcement for town board, has been a topic on this blog. But the candidate also has been busy establishing his own environmental record which fits nicely into the theme of the fallen trees and missing stream of the new town seal. This record from just a year ago in October 2006 shows candidate Desso's respect for our environment, right here in North Greenbush. Caught by a DEC officer after a neighbor's complaint, Desso was issued a ticket for dumping into the Wynantskill Creek, a trout stream. He appeared North Greenbush Town Court. Hey, it's a step in the right direction. He's gone from violations of the Criminal and Penal Law to Environmental Conservation Law. If he gets elected we will get him down to violating the Ethics Law as he votes as the Conservative Vice Chairman to award contracts and pay more money to his Conservative Chairman's excavating company!
Late Financial Disclosure Reports

Kyran Devery
Today is Day 108 for the North Greenbush Democratic Committee violation of State Election Law requiring the on line filing of a Financial Disclosure Report due July 15, 2007. They are also 25 days late on a 32 Day Pre General filing due October 5th and 4 days late filing their October 26th 11 Day Pre General Report. The Board of Elections has sent them another letter attempting to get them to file as required by law. They have completely IGNORED those letters and apparently blame others for their actions. Laws apparently don’t apply to the “reformed” democrats under Jeff Spain and his Treasurer, Tax Collector Kyran Devery. If he does the town job the way he does his political job of party treasurer, time for a change!

Poor trout forced to swim through a Desso created debris field! No respect for the environment.
we wonder if MR desso has a pet fish in the house? The environment is a very important aspect of life here in theis town- and now we know that MR.. desso has no reguard for it. The suppoirt for the big developers is another indication.
I'd hate to see his aquarium!
Thank you Kristin for your wonderful comment through your artistic talents. Its probably not much consolation but I have heard many children echo your/our sentiments about our environment throughout the Bell Top walls. Many children are saddened by the destruction of their neighborhood. Their parents share their feelings. Should Mark Evers win the election, it would be appropriate for him to replace the former town seal you created with the current one. Its a sad time for North Greenbush.
