Dems Spank Spain's Deceptive Letter

Just a day after we received North Greenbush Reform Dems Chair Jeff Spain's letter to the County Democratic Commitee attempting to sway their previously near unanimous vote to adopt new bylaws, unreformed Democrats struck back with a "corrective" letter of their own.

County Legislator Kevin Harrington, a member of the Democratic Committee who opposes Spain and his Republican supported majority in North Greenbush, fired back a letter of his own. Remarkably, the letter was received the following day in the mail according to the commmittee source who provided it to the Pipeline. Now that's a fast response team worthy of Bill Clinton's famous "War Room".

We think the letter speaks for itself so enjoy the read and feel free to compare it to Spain's letter a scroll down the page. The big meeting is tomorrow in Troy at Germania Hall. We'll try to provide the details.

Democratic Caucus
Bets are that Spain will bow to the pressure and call the caucus before tomorrow's County meeting. With a 10 day notice requirement at the Board of Elections, the date could be as soon as the 29 or 30th of August, Of course he could call it by filing the notice today or tomorrow at the BOE and hold it beyond the 10 day minimum but we have smart money on the caucus being held during the last dog days of August.

Late Financial Disclosure Count:
Today is Day 36 for the North Greenbush Democratic and Conservative Committee violations of State Election Law requiring the filing of a Financial Disclosure Report due July 15, 2007. Laws apparently don’t apply to the “reformed” democrats under Jeff Spain and his Treasurer, Tax Collector Kyran Devery. Nor under Michael Casale and his Treasurer, J. David Wos.

Good letter by Mr. Herrington.

The DANA organization lost the village vote by a very small margin (something town leaders should remember). They lost that vote because they worked so hard getting their right to vote that they didn't spend enough time campaigning for the "yes" vote.

The average voter in North Greenbush doesn't understand what a caucus is and isn't even aware that Evers and his corruption ticket could have an unopposed election unless they get out and vote in the Caucus and the Primary. Let's hope with the Caucus coming up quickly the non-corrupt Democrats can get the voters out.

Oh, and speaking of letters...one couldn't help but notice former Councilman Bob Ashe's letter in The Advertiser over the weekend. Does The Pipeline know if Bob Ashe still lives in North Greenbush? Does the Pipeline know if Bob Ashe is still employed by Clemente?

We did notice Ashe's letter in the Advertiser. He is apparently still paranoid about CB having run a campaing against him in 2005 only to discover Smith was not his opponent. Yes, he did move out of town to Poestenkill. We think he still works for the same crew and we are not surprised to see him aligning himself with the man who beat him for Supervisor. Evers has aligned himself with the same blank check development interests he campaigned against and that makes him Bob Ashe's new buddy.Mr. Ashe is full of assumptions, the most bizare of which is that Cleary, Evers opponent in the GOP primary, is aligned with CB.
For the record, any candidate in the town can have thier press releases posted on the Pipeline by emailing them. We emphasize, any candidate. So Mr. Ashe's assumptions were as accurate as the spelling of his name in the headline.

Gee, I wish Bob Ashe would make it clear in his future political letters that HE DOES NOT LIVE IN NORTH GREENBUSH. After all, don't the readers have a right to know?

I'm thinking Evers and Ashe must pow-wow at Twin Town Little League.

read the letter again no where does it say Ashe supports Evers.

No need to read it again. Logic dictates that if one Republican, Ashe, is opposing a fellow Republican, (Cleary) facing a Republican primary opponent, (Evers)he favors the candidate he does not criticize. Or would Mr. Ashe prefer to announce his support for Mr. Sabo, the Democrat in the race? Choices, choices!

That's really comical to think Bob Ashe would support anyone other than The Corruption Ticket. Thanks for the chuckle.

Ashe was told two years ago not to campaign against Smith & Ashley. He wouldn't listen then, and he won't listen now. He will help the Evers/Desso/Spain losing ticket this time around too. I hope he stays aligned with them. they deserve each other. He is also part of the investigation ticket of Ashe, Desso, Fiacco and their PR guru, Rich Crist. Funny thing is - Crist gets paid to run winning campaigns and has never had a winning ticket. Some North Greenbushians are really idiots!

Bob Ashe doesn't like Mr. Cleary because Jeff Cleary challenged Bob's loyalty to the Republican party. Bob was running around with Conservatives and Dems strong-arming people to register Conservative, rather than Republican. Now let's hope that the ones who registered because they were intimdated two years ago, and voted Ashe out then, return to vote Evers out. That would be sweet justice.

I think Evers and Ashe pow-wow with fire water at a local watering hole. How else do you explain both of them thinking they are intelligent and likeable
