"My fellow Democrats"

Some say it's in the water in North Greenbush. But the politics here require a scorecard unlike any other to keep track of the characters, their party affiliations and agendas. Today's Sand Lake Advertiser offers a glimpse of the problem.

Councilman Al Spain writing a paid letter to "his fellow Democrats" supporting the GOP endorsed candidate for Town Clerk for the Democratic nomination for Town Clerk. Did you follow that?

Al Spain couldn't win a primary in the Democratic Party if he tried. The last one he attempted, trying to do what his friend Connolly is doing now, win all the party lines so you alone are on the ballot, didn't work out for him as voters sent him packing from the Democratic Party. Al left the Democrats long ago to take the GOP endorsements for town council. A Democrat in registration only as is Connolly who has had to run with Republican support for the past decade because the leadership refused to endorse her continued absence from her full time job in town hall.

So "Democrat" Spain, endorsed by the town Republicans, wants his "fellow Democrats" to vote for "Democrat" Connolly. Didn't work out so well when Spain tried it and we expect voters will send Connolly a message the same way.

Now add a member of the Democratic Committee, Melissa Shanley, formerly candidate for town council Melissa Anderson, asking folks to vote for Mary Sabo, part of the newly created Sabo-Connolly Team. Her paid letter, an "in kind" contribution to the campaign, is in today's Advertiser placed right next to Spain's. (Birds of a feather)Both Sabo and Shanley are members of the Democratic Committee and both walked away from the party to challenge its duly endorsed candidates by signing a  Designating petition for Connolly, knowing she was the GOP candidate for Clerk. Sabo went a step further by herself challenging the party's endorsed Supervisor candidate Ron Sinico.

Hence a messy primary which cost the party a good deal of money and which may produce the result warned about at the endorsement meeting last February that nobody wins if there is a primary except the GOP.

Egos are big here and perhaps it's from drinking the water. We just don't know but that's why we need scorecards.

For the first time in 10 yrs the town clerk seeks Democratic backing to prevent the overall public to vote who they want for town clerk in general election in November 🤔 If she is so confident of her performance record what is she afraid of by going head to head with
Janice HANNIGAN Kerwin in general election? .
We all know the reason !
Janice along with her family (now in 3rd generation) have been life long volunteers unselfishly giving back to make our town a better community via wynantskill volunteer fire dept , ambulance, youth activities, and st Jude’s church. . Primary voting Dems just compare the resume and if you still want Katie Connelly as town clerk you will have that opportunity to vote for her in general election, please give your fellow citizens who are enrolled BLANK to vote for who they want by 2 choices
And remember one important thing eliminating general election ballot choices started in 2007 was why we have/had the now disgraced Lou Desso and Katie CONNELLY has been part of all of the shenanigans in her town clerk duties by looking the other way either by not being available or producing administrative road blocks .

If you are sick of what is happening- do something about it! Get out and vote. Janice will absolutely show up everyday for work and there will NO BE TIGHT BACK sign for hours or days at a time!
