A new sign in town

Shhh! Don't tell anyone, but there are new signs in town. As production gets off the ground the town's political underground is putting their advertising message to good use. First was the sign reminding folks that Lou Desso is stiffing a local restaurant owner out of a $7000 bill still owed from a 2015 fundraiser in which he posted $27,000 in income. That one is apparently heading to court.

Now we add the new Shhh! series of signs beginning with Lou Desso's scheme to get himself a 16% property tax cut which was thankfully disclosed by the Times Union.

Desso saved $1987 a year by using his influence to reduce his taxes. His property was valued by Zillow, a real estate site, at 435,350 which he was assessed by the town at $313,500 (Fair Market Value) But that wasn't enough for Mr. Desso so he pulled some strings and quietly set off to Brunswick, a GOP controlled town, where they generously agreed he should have his fair market value reduced by $96,900 , a whopping 16%

"I should have done it sooner" he said when confronted with the facts. Indeed, but he didn't have the clout earlier that comes from his position as a Supervisor. Now he’s added his own sewer district and subdivided, increasing the value.

So remember, Shhh! don't tell anyone, just VOTE!
