Let the Good Times Roll!

If you'll pardon the pun, the Conservative Republican Town Board Majority endorsed by Jeff Spain's "Democrats" have approved digging into your wallets to borrow more than a million dollars to pay their Conservative Party allies who endorsed their candidacies for town board. Better yet, the resolution approved a sell out settlement which forces the entire town to pay for the mismanagement of the contract in Water 14.

That's right, even if you are paying your bills in another water district, you'll get to help pay for the new borrowing so Casale Excavating, whose principle Michael Casale is Chair of the Conservative Party, can get more than 8.1 million for a 6.4 million contract.

The vote was 4-1 with Councilman Michaels dissenting in large part over his displeasure with making the whole town pay for the new borrowing.

It gets better. The resolution requires the appointment of a "Project Coordinator" to oversee the spending and that its done in accordance with State laws. Only problem is they are putting the very same people in charge of this new spending who authorized the overspending of the 7.2 million already spent.

Is everybody happy?!? We know some folks who are celebrating the windfall. Only question is whether State Supreme Court Justice Michael Lynch will agree to this fleecing of the taxpayers of North Greenbush?

not wanting to besmerch anyone but to me it looks like the blind leading the blind. i'm sure these people want to do it right but just don't know how . ie: set up a tracking and inspection system. i as a state engineer in charge directly administrated and oversaw all operations involved in building h'ways and bridges for over 30 years. i would gladly advise the people who will handle such operations for the town. i would offer my years of "know how" at no cost to the town which will save the town thousands of dollars. joe spairana
