Pat Nolan Announces Candidacy for Democratic Seat

There are many folks who write cowardly attacks to this blog hoping they will be posted as thoughtful commentary. We readily admit that they do not receive consideration. Other blogs post most anything, even the most outrageous attacks on the character of their adversaries. Make no mistake that this is done out of fear of their adversaries and what they dare to profess. Any challenge to their position or livelihood is addressed routinely by demonizing anyone who dares to stand in their way.

One individual who is not a coward and whose heart is at least in the right place is Pat Nolan who unfortunately has aligned himself with Jeff Spain, Kathryn Connolly and a group of people seeking to maintain power to benefit themselves and family members who enjoy town employment or hold the keys to development interests and all that comes from such authority.

Pat chose not to anonymously accuse adversaries of causing someone to commit suicide. He sent this email which we are happy to post:

Just a note to mention why I have chosen to run for the Democratic Committee. I feel that as a lake resident I would best represent our election district plain and simple. I have done quite a bit of work for our community and I plan on continuing to do the same whether I am elected to the committee or not and I want our community to be represented as it should. Nothing more or less. As noted the Cavanaugh's & Premo's are well known names in our community and I wish them the best of luck. I hope that they have the interests of the
community in mind and nothing else.
Pat Nolan

Now Pat, if only those you were running with had your guts, your decency and your humanity, there would be no division in a Democratic Party torn by total intolerance for anyone who holds a different view than that which they hold.

If only these "Democrats" had not decided to punish Mark Premo for showing the same guts you showed by standing with his friends and refusing to turn his back on them as a price for political support.

If only those you are running with could accept town residents who share a different view of development which is best for the the town without demonizing them as evil and misguided while trying to impose on them their views without consideration of opposing opinions.

There are two DEMOCRATS in Snyder's Lake standing up to Jeff Spain and Kathryn Connolly as well as their political benefactors such as Jim Germano and the county Republicans with whom he arranged a "Democratic" endorsement of Republican candidates in an effort to deny any choice at the polls and win at all cost.
.
The question for Pat Nolan is whether there can be three people running for the Democratic Committee from Snyder's Lake willing to say that his running mates for committee were wrong, are wrong and continue to be wrong for the Democratic Party and the town of North Greenbush.
.
Members of the County Democratic Committee exist to support and elect DEMOCRATS, not Republicans at the town, county, state and federal levels. The petitions they carry are not just their own for committee, but those of other Democratic candidates to insure the party offers voters a choice at the ballot box. They exist to urge the appointment of DEMOCRATS to positions of responsibility in town government, not attorneys with criminal records and disgraced former judges from other communities. How many of those other petitions did the "Democrats" you are running with give you to carry? Ask yourself "Why not"?

We suspect there will be some soul searching in this race and we hope decency wins. Should Pat Nolan win, we hope he has the courage to do what is right, even if he too is demonized for doing what is right and not merely expedient.

My attacks to this blog are what they are. I do not pretend or hope for them to be posted as anything else. If the writings of your blog were more factual than opinion, I doubt very much that it would have to be (or that you'd want it to be)subtitled 'WHISPERS from behind the Greenbush'. People only need to whisper when they don't want others to hear what they have to say.

I have lived in this town for the past 16 years and have been a registered democrat for over 25 years, but I don't condone your theories of what a good democrat is. Webster defines democrat as 'one who practices social equality'. Thinking that people are inferior and are unable to do the same job at the same level because of any party affiliation goes against that. Wouldn't you agree?

Let's face it, there are bad republicans, bad democrats, bad conservatives and bad liberals; and as long as every politician has an ego and an agenda, things will never change.

By the way... I am an elected official
