Spain Lies Like a Rug

It’s always amusing to see someone take the bait and deny something for which others hold proof. Jeff Spain denied in last week’s Advertiser that he attended two town meetings regarding Water District 14. The first was on September 2, 2004 at 6:15PM and the second on June 2, 2005 at 6:30PM.

Well Jeff, its too hard to resist posting these copies of the official town minutes of the meetings you claim you did not attend. Gollie!, there's your name right there in black and white as an attendee! Must be a conspiracy. Then again, maybe Jeff just came in late or then again maybe his memory has faded with time along with all those other wild charges about your enemies stealing all the party money and not being loyal to you for which you attempted to purge them from the party.

Times are tough and no doubt Jeff is feeling the burdens of justifying to Democrats as he passes his name on party petitions in the heart of Water District 14, why his town board allies appointed an attorney, his attorney, with a criminal record to town court and another who was a judge removed from the bench for misconduct. We imagine it's also a bit hard to explain why a Democratic Chairman endorsed the GOP slate for town offices while opposing Democrats seeking those offices.

When Jeff, his brother, Councilman Spain and Councilman Desso along with the Supervisor continue to deceive the public on the findings of the State Comptroller’s Audit in an effort to blame opponents for the over payments while those responsible are still on the town payroll, people who care will just have to take the time to see who is telling the truth. That’s easy enough by reading the State audit here.

In the mean time, we are happy to post these minutes from the meetings you denied you attended in your recent letter to the Advertiser. Happy Reading Jeff!

Evers Uses Supervisor's Report to Congratulate Allies for Lying
In the same edition of the Advertiser, don't miss the Supervisor's report which is supposed to be about the good things happening in town. Mark Evers however, is still paranoid that people know his true role in the over payments to his Conservative Party contractor in Water 14 by reading the State Comptroller's audit. He used the last paragraph to thank his allies for writing letters lying about his role in the mess and blaming his adversaries instead. What a guy!

Sabo Raises Credibility Issue with Evers in The Record
Josh Sabo, the former Town Attorney and Democrat who ran against Evers on the Greenbush Party line has a letter to the editor in the Record Sunday. You can read it here.

He makes a great point in asking people to pay attention to action and not the words of Mark Evers. Simply put, Evers misleads people constantly. Sabo cites the example of Evers claims that checks were issued behind his back by the former comptroller to Evers Conservative benefactors in Water District 14. If so, he asks, why is Evers not filing charges or ordering litigation to recover the funds, hundreds of thousands of dollars worth. Answer, because Evers wanted the money paid and simply failed to co sign the checks before giving them to Casale Excavating and Evers himself signed other checks over the contract without anyone else's signature and in one instance, behind the back of the town board.

On another note, the old Paul Simon song still rings true as you read Lilian Parson's rendition of the Water 14 Saga here. Lillian still thinks people had a never exercising their right to vote on nearly $400 a month payments for water. She still likes to think the vote and not the failure of the former GOP board to put the contract out to bid for 10 months after the vote was the cause for the delay and increased cost. And she still remains an apologist for Evers and his own reckless incompetence in paying those checks out to his Conservative contractor without proper legal approval.

Bruno's Chief of Staff's Spouse Becomes a Democrat
What a surprise to learn that Senator Joe Bruno's chief staff person's wife is a Democrat. Sara Bogess change to Democrat on October 13, 2006. We suspect the Senator wanted the change so he would have a loyal soldier enrolled in the Democratic Party to have legal standing to challenge his Democratic opponent's nominating petitions this year.

Joe didn't have to go to that trouble because right here in North Greenbush the so called Democratic Chairman, Jeff Spain is refusing to carry the Democratic Party petitions of Bruno's opponent Brian Premo. Jeff would have been happy to sign those legal challenges for his Republican allies. Then there is also the town clerk, Ms. Connolly whose brother has a Senate job thanks to Joe Bruno. We're sure she isn't carrying the Democratic Party petition either and also would be happy to help out Republicans like Joe Bruno with petition challenges in the Democratic Party which both sold out to endorse the GOP slate in last year's town elections.
