Clinton, Obama or McCain for Spain?
Editor's note: We had to laugh upon reading this release from Dan Ashley, the man Jeff Spain succeeded as Chairman of the North Greenbush Democrats. Normally one would not think to ask a Democratic Party Chairman whether he supports a Democrat for President but with Spain's track record, it's a reasonable question to ask. So Mr. Spain, feel free to tell the Pipeline your orientation to Democrats or Republicans in the upcoming Presidential Primary and fall election. We will let the readers see your answer.
Daniel C. Ashley of the North Greenbush Democratic Committee today asked Town Democratic Chairman Jeffery Spain to pledge his support for a Democratic candidate for President of the United States as we approach the Super Tuesday New York Primary February 5th.
"Mr. Spain recently endorsed the Republican endorsed candidate for Town Supervisor, Councilman and Highway Superintendent while opposing qualified Democrats seeking party support. It is imperative that the leadership of the Democratic Party in North Greenbush not repeat such disloyalty in the crucial Presidential race ahead", stated Ashley.
Ashley affirmed support for New York Senator Hillary Clinton as did several other members of the Democratic Committee who also opposed Spain's endorsement of the GOP candidates last fall.
"I call upon Mr. Spain to pledge his unconditional support and that of his GOP leaning Committee members to work for the election of a Democrat, to the Presidency in this election year", stated Ashley. A Democratic Chairman and Committee members should not be supporting and endorsing Republicans at any level when qualified Democrats are ready to represent our party and its values, concluded Ashley.
