McNally Sworn In

The new Rensselaer County District Attorney Richard McNally, was sworn in by his former boss, now retired Supreme Court Justice James B. Canfield. Canfield hired McNally as an assistant when Canfield was District Attorney.

Ehrlich and Bauer may be named as Town Attorneys
Reliable sources say that election attorney and Latham resident Josh Ehrlich and Troy's Henry Bauer will be appointed by Spain's "Democratic" Majority as Town Attorneys. These Republicans will replace Democrats currently serving.

Bauer's background is well know as a former Troy City Court Judge who was removed from the bench. Henry Bauer, despite his ethical challenges, has no criminal record. Such a vote will, however, pose a test for Councilman Al Spain, a so called Democrat, whose Troy City job depends in part on Bauer's vote as a city councilman.

Ehrlich is another story and is about as suitable for a job prosecuting in town court as Henry Zwack is deciding cases as a judge. We have written about Ehrlich on the Pipeline in the past including his criminal record. Can you imagine McNally hiring a guy like this to prosecute cases in town and county courts? But for Evers and his crew, no problem. The credentials are preferred.

Tonight's meeting of the town board will determine whether Al Spain, the supposed Democrat supported by brother Jeff, will vote to hire Republicans and fire Democrats. We certainly hope the local media attends to watch the potential appointment of the town legal staff. The fun begins at 7PM at town hall.
