We didn’t get around to finishing out all of the plans rumored to be in the works at town hall for jobs. So this wrap up will tickle some ears and anger others. Those of you who follow the ball at town hall and this publication, know that the Supervisor’s secretary did not go to a position rumored in the works from friends in the County Civil Service Commission to work at the Commission. Word is publication of the plan caused a furor and has suspended it for the time being and perhaps until a test is given which might make such an appointment appear less connection oriented.
That delay has also kept a secretary Evers hired illegally, with the full cooperation of the County Civil Service Commission which knows he has no unilateral appointment authority, in her current position in the Building Department. Another illegal Evers hire is being required to go to the Comptroller’s Office and word is there is not much happiness with the plan by the employee it affects.
All of this might, if it occurs, cause an “opening” of sorts in the Building Department. Word has been that another political payback is in the works by re-hiring Conservative Committee member and former town appointee under Robert Ashe’s tenure, Judith Wos. Yes, even Michael Miner is rolling his eyes about this one given his knowledge of her past tenure in town hall.
How all of this works with the Civil Service Commission is not known but if it comes to pass, we will certainly find out.
What about Joe?
We did, you’ll recall, predict an effort to appoint a former town board member to the Planning Board which did not occur because F. James Germano is calling the shots for such things behind the scenes and managed to get his son appointed to the Board and as Chairman no less. Jim was undoubtedly part of that mystery Transition Team of political power brokers which Evers is so desperate to keep secret as evidenced in last Thursday's Metroland Magazine.
But we would point out that the information first published here was accurate and that Joe Styczynski was in fact in the mix for the job until Jimmy threw his considerable weight around Evers, Kern and Spain. No, they don’t pay attention to party bosses, right. But, they sure do call a board meeting in a questionable hurry when asked by these political power brokers!
So it was understandable, if not predictable that Joe fired away the town board majority for passing over his resume in favor of Germano’s son. Politics is alive and well in this group that insists they don’t listen to party bosses. Oh, how Ernie Kern used to play that fiddle, “Politics stopped at the election”, Kern would say. Now he defends appointments for Germano’s relatives and attorneys with criminal records and more ethical baggage that the Samsonite Baggage plant. Gee Ernie, that makes you special in our eyes. Perhaps an award for complete hypocrisy is in order. What color suitcase would you prefer?
No Comptroller
The Supervisor is still looking for a Comptroller after firing his prior appointment before recruiting a replacement. Good move.
Here is the ad for the position as found on the internet. Our bet remains a politically connected person is already lined up.
The Resolution Sponsor is?
With all of the whoopla last year about knowing who sponsored which resolution of agendas for town board meetings, which by the way, have yet to appear on the town web site as required by board rules and past practice, no sponsor names appeared on the printed agenda for the Board's first regular meeting. Openess seems less important to this majority or is it just carelessness on the part of the person preparing the agenda? Hmm, now who is that person?

Must be Katty's lapse in memory...forgot to sign the oath book(2X), forgot to post the meeting, etc.
