Battling Josh’s

Round one concluded in State Supreme Court with the reformed Democrats attorney battling the attorney for Mark Premo and his allies on the opposing side in North Greenbush. It was dubbed the battle of the Josh’s with Josh Ehrlich in one corner and Josh Sabo in the other.

Lots of charges and countercharges but Josh one seems determined to have CB Smith testify as to his role and knowledge of the petition process. About the only testimony that rattled ears was that of an Independence candidate who testified he was unaware he was on the petition. Apparently neither attorney knew the witness had signed his own petition which makes clear his testimony was at best confused.

Another area of inquiry involved an attempt to reach out to the conservative candidate who said she was unaware she was on the ballot which the Premo side claims was nothing more than a communications snafu. The burden on the reform side seems to be to prove the error was committed with the intent to defraud which is a high bar to reach in court.

The next round is scheduled for next Monday.

Late Financial Disclosure Count:

Today is Day 24 for the North Greenbush Democratic and Conservative Committee violations of State Election Law requiring the filing of a Financial Disclosure Report due July 15, 2007. Laws apparently don’t apply to the “reformed” democrats under Jeff Spain and his Treasurer, Tax Collector Kyran Devery. Nor under Michael Casale and his Treasurer, J. David Wos.

Fighting petitions to allow candidates on the ballot? If they were so secure they had decent candidates, why try to block others from being on the ballot? The corruption ticket isn't even confident enough to let the voters decide. Pathetic.
