It should have been expected by all parties involved in the petition process. Each side is probing the other for potential defects and fraud that would throw out a slate of candidates. County Republicans who are supporting a “Democratic” Slate of Evers and Desso filed specific objections to town party petitions in support of three enrolled Republicans. Part of the objection is said to include numerous sworn affidavits from signatories stating that they did not sign the petition in question. If that is sustained by the Board of Elections, those signatures would most certainly be invalidated. Apparently the county GOP hired a private detective to check on the signatures in a game of domestic spying comparable to that going on at the State level. If the remaining signatures reach or exceed the minimum number required, however, the slate would remain intact for the primary. Of course a court challenge is also likely to be a part of the process, meaning that the decision of the Board of Elections for or against either side would be reviewed by a State Supreme Court Judge.
On the Conservative side, Casale Excavating Conservative Judith Wos is still trying to make up with GOP Chair Jack Casey for giving out that letter from a few years back soliciting money from party job holders. She filed a specific objection to the Conservative slate opposed to Casale Excavating’s slate whose mission in life is to get Casale more money for Water District 14 and put Ms Wos back on the town payroll. Her objection centers around the failure of petitioners to inform Florence Albereli of her name on a petition for town council due to her absence on vacation when petitions were circulated. That’s a ball call from the BOE that will still require Wos to send her 2005, 2006 and 2007 donation checks to the county GOP.
Late Financial Disclosure Count:

Today is Day 15 for the North Greenbush Democratic and Conservative Committee violations of State Election Law requiring the filing of a Financial Disclosure Report due July 15, 2007. Laws apparently don’t apply to the “reformed” democrats under Jeff Spain and his Treasurer, Tax Collector Kyran Devery. Nor under Michael Casale and his Treasurer, J. David Wos.

Once again, rather than just letting the voters have their day at the Primary, these underhanded folks have to try to manipulate the system. More shameful behavior! They all need a history lesson in how our freedom to vote works. How about a little respect for the people who have sacrificed so that we may have these rights?
Hey, has anyone checked out the private investigator hired by Jack (UNCLE JOE) Casey? He's from downstate, and has quite the shady past. His daddy's in jail for murder, I hear. Maybe he strong-armed the people to sign the affidavits or lied to them. Stranger things have happened in the goal to win an election! Some of those people refused to sign, but said this guy was pretty intimidating. Anyone else have info on him?
While reading another blog, I realized that they are a little one-sided. They forgot to mention the FBI, Special Prosecutor and Comproller investigations of the people running and working on their ticket. I heard the campaign slogan is, “We Have The Experience It Takes To Be Your Elected Officials in North Greenbush.” Our resume’s include: Past, Present & Future Indictments, courtesy of: Bruno, Casey, Conolly, Evers, Desso, Fiacco, Crist, et al.
