When County Republican Richard Crist and his Conservative ally Robert Mirch rushed into action with a slate of candidates to challenge those endorsed by the Working Families Party, they must have been blinded by the stress created by the Special Prosecutor’s investigation into their misuse of city and county resources to run their Victory Lane operation.
Records on file at the Board of Elections show that their candidate for Town Highway Superintendent Evan Yedynak is a scant 19 years of age, born in September 1988. We imagine they must have been beyond desperate to run a candidate who has had his drivers license about three years. That may be plenty of experience for the county highway department’s 17 ton trucks and plows, but in North Greenbush, folks are use to a bit more seasoning before they put someone behind the wheel of a 17 ton truck.
Their effort to get Mark Premo could not be more desperate considering their willingness to endanger our town with such an inexperienced candidate, if we can call him that. It’s even worse than the developer that the reformed democrats under Al Spain and Kathryn Connolly are supporting together with their allies in the Conservative and Independence Parties.
While we hope this candidate has a Class 1 drivers license, we doubt very much that he has reached that level of expertise and that shaving is at least a daily occurrence.
We are told, another candidate the GOP pair put up for Town Council is an exotic dancer. We can’t confirm it but if true, they have a great sense of humor along with their disregard for public safety in proposing a 19 year old to be in charge of a fleet of 17 ton trucks and the men who run and maintain them.
Nice job Rich and Bob! You have made a sham of an important office and are willing to turn him loose on the residents of North Greenbush. Can’t wait for Primary Day.

Late Financial Disclosure Count: Today is Day 9 for the North Greenbush Democratic and Conservative Committee violations of State Election Law requiring the filing of a Financial Disclosure Report due July 15, 2007. Laws apparently don’t apply to the “reformed” democrats under Jeff Spain and his Treasurer, Tax Collector Kyran Devery. Nor under Michael Casale and his Treasurer, J. David Wos.

as you know this lad wont win but this is an attempt to take votes away from Mark Premo. These clowns did it in Troy and now they are doing it here. Do we really need 9-city council persons and 6- county legislators representing Troy. What gets done ????
Don't be so cynical. After all, the Wynantskill School District residents voted for a 19 year old!
Joe Bruno, Jack Casey, Rich Crist and crew should be ashamed of themselves. They are willing to sacrifice the the Town of North Greenbush, it's hard working people, and qualified candidates just to get their pockets lined.
I hope this time around the people in this Town will do the right thing and vote for CLEARY, MARSHALL, PIEL, PREMO and whoever the new clerk candidate is.
Rich Crist lives in Schodack. He has no business putting together a slate of candidates in North Greenbush. It may just be one political game for him but for the residents of N.G., this is our home. Yes...shame on you Rich Crist!
The first order of business is to get Evers & Connoly OUT and to keep their running mates OUT. But after voting for Evers myself in the last election I have to learn a lot more about Cleary to vote FOR him and not AGAINST Evers. Why would someone want the job as supervisor for 20K a year? Will he turn once in office? Will he be bought and sold by the contractors and developers? Does he give a rat's ass about Defreestville? Josh Sabo is someone who can't be overlooked. He has a long history of public service and care about his community.
And to my long old time childhood aquaintance Rich Crist...it isn't too late for you. You might heed how George Stephanopolus handled his career. He saw Clinton was going down and got out before he was washed up as well. The party is over and Joe Bruno is going down one way or another. Perhaps Crist will find some integrity after all and go back to using his pen the way his Journalism professors taught him. I've been sadened and disappointed to watch his choices over the years. You've got one chance Rich...be something your kids can be proud of. Time to step back, do some soul searching and contribute to this world something more than doing the political dirtywork of others. 40 is a great age to make a change.
Anonymous: You are right about Crist turning, but I personally think it's too late for him and he's certainly not anywhere near as smart as Stephanopolus. Fortunately, it's not too late for us. The first order of business IS to get Evers and Katty out, and keep their running mates from getting in. Jeff Cleary is someone who won't turn after he gets into office. He values his reputation and has too much integrity. Josh Sabo is a great guy, but I do think he's out of his league on this one. Town Attorney is tough enough for him to stomach, he doesn't have the constitution for the Supervisor fight. Vote for change - Vote for Cleary.
