Well it didn’t take long for town Republicans to officially declare their battle lines with County and State Republicans who are attempting to force them to endorse the future Democratic slate for Supervisor and Councilman.
Word is that Chairman Vince Sculco has written a letter or issued a statement urging town Republicans not to sign petitions being carried by the Senate employees sent forth yesterday to North Greenbush homes. Once more, we’re told he stood up for the best interests of the town as opposed to the wishes of his own very powerful party bosses. The town GOP has learned a lesson that propelled “unreformed” Democrats to victory in 2005, put the concerns of town residents first with regard to development. He supports the Comprehensive Plan and community based development. Better yet, he understands that Evers and Kern deserted their campaign pledge to support the Comprehensive Plan and instead aligned themselves with the very same development interests that Republicans fell with in the 2005 election.
Chairman Sculco, supports the two party system and realizes that an election in which the candidates are preordained by party bosses to be the same on every party line is not an election at all. It’s one party rule, in this case people using the party of choice to pursue the same agenda, usually revolving around making money. We can only guess why Senator Bruno made this deal with Evers and the “reformed” Democrats. Developers have big campaign check books and he is used to seeing those pre approved $5000 checks on demand!
Today we thank the town Republicans for putting North Greenbush first and wish them well in securing the Republican line for Republicans! (We also wish the Democrats the opportunity to elect Democrats!)
Counselor to the Supervisor?
The North Greenbush Pipeline has learned that the town supervisor has an a non appointed lawyer advising him on such things as how to screw up the Comprehensive Plan Committee. The behind the scenes guru is non other than Nigro Development’s attorney Mary Beth Slevin. The two have been exchanging information for months in an apparent effort to slow down the Comprehensive Plan Committee and get the poorly conceived Van Rensselaer Square project off the ground.
Unauthorized Canvas?
Never one to let laws get in his way, the town supervisor has again, behind the back of the town board, asked for a canvas of a secretary’s list in order to rid himself of two town employees he wants to remove. Apparently Mr. Evers has not counted all the “secretaries” who might be affected by such an unauthorized move. More on that later, but the last time a canvass of a list was requested, it was by the town board for the position of “clerk” and Mr. Evers sat on that Resolution after it was approved. Instead he has kept a higher paid “senior clerk” illegally on the payroll by appointing her off a list for that title without a required vote by the town board which is the “appointing authority” for the town.
Evers thinks he is the appointing authority, but in reality is merely a contact person to speak on behalf of the appointing authority after they have acted on a appointment matter. Word is that if Evers moves to pull a “Caola” on the employees, there may be swift action in State Supreme Court to force the removal of the illegally employed senior clerk.

Hmmm...wonder how Evers pays his lawyer Ms. MaryBeth on his 20K salary?
Reminder residents...do not sign petitions to put Evers on the Republican line. Neighbors are circulating petitions to place opposition to Evers and friends. Feel free to sign but only sign one petition. Otherwise, a signature on two petitions becomes invalid. Support a real election. Let's have a choice this fall!
