Town GOP Fights Back

Help is on the way! Town Republicans are fighting back against the corrupt political deal that saw Joe Bruno and Jack Casey order them to endorse Mark Evers and Lou Desso.

The North Greenbush Pipeline received this press release from Jeff Cleary, who unlike Mark Evers, is a Republican seeking his party's endorsement for town supervisor.

Rumors abound that a Town Clerk candidate has surfaced as well along with a Receiver of Taxes. The two party system needs two or more candidates to function properly and protect voters from corrupt party bosses who misuse the system to grab power. It takes guts to run these days, especially in this climate.

Bets are in that he and his slate will oppose blank check contracts to the Conservative Party Chairman for water and real support for the Comprehensive Plan Committee.

We'll let Mr. Cleary's press release say the rest.

Cleary to Challenge Incumbent North Greenbush Town Supervisor

Republican Jeffrey D. Cleary officially announced today that he will seek election as North Greenbush Town Supervisor, challenging the incumbent.

“I believe that North Greenbush is a great place to raise a family, and I feel it’s my duty to do what I can to keep it that way. We have wonderful resources here, but those resources are not inexhaustible and the quality of life our residents currently enjoy hangs in the balance,” Cleary said. “North Greenbush is growing but we need to grow sensibly and wisely, with more prudence than we’ve seen from this administration. We need new leadership, a new direction, in order to produce accountable, responsive government.”

Mr. Cleary has had extensive experience with government including positions in the office of the Counsel to Governor George Pataki, the New York State Department of Corrections, and the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board. Most recently he was the Assistant Commissioner for Government Affairs in the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services. Mr. Cleary’s extensive private-sector experience includes service as the President of the Ireland Chamber of Commerce, USA from 1999 to 2001, and his current position as a partner with Knickerbocker Consulting, LLC.

Mr. Cleary, briefly a candidate for Rensselaer County Sheriff in 2002, has also been active in several local, statewide, and national political campaigns, and most recently served as Campaign Manager to J. Christopher Callaghan, who was the Republican nominee for New York State Comptroller last year.

“As the mayor of the small town, my father instilled in me the unshakable notion that public service is about serving the public, not just a select few who make the right campaign donations,” Cleary said. “I look forward to speaking candidly and openly with my fellow residents about what concerns them most, and sharing my vision for a more responsive, accountable, and ethical town government,” Cleary said.

Jeff, his wife of 14 years Michelle, and their son Nolan reside on Winter Street.

Your going up against the big boy's now. Not even John Nigro will be able to save you. I heard Bruce Toll might name the road BEHIND the plaza either DANA Way or CB's Dead End.

The poster regarding the road names...your comments clearly reflect the developer funded politician's (Evers...) maturity, integrity and respect toward the many Defreestville homeowners. You illustrate exactly the mindset we have been subject to over the years.

Working together for the benefit of this town would not only be a novel idea but something you could be proud of.

DANA has never opposed development of 4 & 43. They only seek smart development. A Medical Complex or professional development such as in the tech. park would benefit all of us in terms of quality of life. Defreestville does not need to be the sales tax cash cow for Rensselaer County.

Jeff Cleary is just the man to turn the Town around. Put the brakes on the developers. We don't want to be another Wolf Road. Evers would let Paris decide. I want Jeff to decide! Run, Jeff, Run!!!!
