Translation, NASA we have a problem! We thought town residents and the folks from Ireland and Sweeden who read the North Greenbush Pipeline this week, would like a look see at a real subpoena. Judging from the names on this one, North Greenbush Politicians sure know how to cause them.
Let’s see, there’s Lou Desso, Bob Ashe, and Leon Fiacco, your absentee ballot team from 2005. That was a Victory Lane operation run right out of the county office building that was likely paid for by giving Richard Crist a town paycheck. Add Kathy Allen and there are 4 North Greenbush politicos named in the subpoena. That leaves 4 from Troy and 6 from four other towns. They forgot a few like Rick Matters from East Greenbush and several legislative and council candidates, but that information is finding its way to Albany. They all have one thing in common. ALL used the services of Victory Lane LLC to run their campaigns.
Those of you who thought we were making things up with regard to the presence of some of these names on the subpoena, well here’s your dish of crow served on a fresh JPEG. Now what do you suppose the special prosecutor is actually looking for by examining all those campaign finance records? Our bet is it has to do with the paid services of Victory Lane as well as the absence of key political filings that should have recorded payments to Victory Lane, but are missing because those making the payments never filed reports as required by law.
That’s where our own John Harkin comes in. As the accountant and tax preparer for this taxpayer supported potentially criminal enterprise run with county staff and time from the county office building, Mr. Harkin will have many of the answers that Special Prosecutor David Soares’s Office is sure to be looking for.
Just like in the gangster movies when the prosecution is protecting the key witness with the books so he can testify to where all the money came from and where it went, Mr. Harkin of the Reformed and Twisted Democrats is sure to find himself answering questions in front of a Grand Jury. Guess that waiver from the State Retirement System will have to wait. Who knows, maybe the attempt to defraud the retirement system by providing false information to the State will become a valuable prosecutorial tool to help gather accurate testimony. By the way, confessions and tips can be provided using the handy number at the bottom of the subpoena. It's 275-4752 in case you don't click on the image to read.
