Parades bring Patriotism

We all love parades. This year’s Memorial Day Celebrations in North Greenbush gave the entire community a chance to show their respect for our veterans and those who have made the supreme sacrifice.

No matter what your politics, all of us can agree on one thing on Memorial Day, and that is to stop and demonstrate our respect and admiration for veterans living and deceased. We are please to see that all political faiths were represented with the town’s Republicans and Democrats presenting a wreath at the Veterans Memorial at the Town Offices.

We were also pleased to see once again, town Democrats parading as they did in past years. They were just in front of the Highway Department trucks which were all shined up for the event. These days when you say Democrats in North Greenbush you need to clarify. The “reformers” who took charge of the party presented a wreath as did their GOP counterparts. The old standard bearers under Dan Ashley marched behind a banner of North Greenbush Democrats Club. They handed out candy to the kids as in past years.

So while Chairman Spain and his band of “reformers” think they may have “purged” Ashley and company from political existence, it’s clear that the flames of resistance shine bright on a day of patriotic remembrance.

So the Spain's and Connolly's purged you guys and that didn't work. Maybe next they'll stage a public execution. Good job! My kids really appreciated the show and the treats.
