Hot Wheels!

It’s no secret that the boys in the Building Department want new toys and nothing makes a guy happier than a new set of wheels. Just look at that fancy new Fire Marshall truck they ordered last year that wasn’t in the budget. Its got a hi fi sound system that rocks, extra flashing lights under the hood and an expensive decal job. Problem is it wasn’t in the budget and the boys just decided that didn’t matter.

Now they want a couple of more trucks and no doubt there might be some need for routine replacement. Trouble is the Supervisor hasn’t a clue where his finances are. He hasn’t been able to finish his required 2006 Financial Report nor has been able to provide the Town Board with any monthly report on revenues verses expenses to budget.

None the less the boys want their toys. Councilman Alan Michaels said no at the last meeting until such time as the town board is provided the financial status of the town by the Supervisor. Trouble is he hasn’t a clue how to do it. He will likely seek outside help from an accounting firm to prepare the reports and heaven knows how accurate that might be.

Despite the position taken at the Workshop meeting, the Supervisor placed the purchase request on the agenda for this week’s meeting. This after a memo from one of the employees asking for the truck. No financial report is expected or submitted with his request. Stay tuned for the continuing saga of CD Player on Wheels, Trucks in North Greenbush Town Government.

More on the agenda tomorrow.

Why are these yahoos the only Building Department in the entire Capital District riding around with redlights and sirens? We have great fire departments in NG. We don't need wannabe or pretend fire chiefs riding around in fake chiefs cars. Check with other major upstate NY uses the title Fire Inspector, which by DMV law does NOT allow the use of emergency lights.

WE DON'T NEED ANY MORE TRUCKS-THE HIGHWAY DEPT. HAS A TRUCK WHEN NEEDED.LAWNS THAT NEED MOWING SHOULD BE WRITTEN ON A WORKORDER AND THE EQUIPMENT AND LABORER DROPPED OFF TO DO THE JOB AND THE ASSIGNED PERSON SHOULD CHECK ON THAT PERSON REGULARLY. THAT WOULD BE ACCOUNTABILITY AND PROPER WORK ASSIGNMENT- WHERE IS THE OFFICE SUPERVISOR/ENGINEER? STOP SPENDING OUR MONEY YOU !!!???!!!'S

If the boys in the building department could hear what I'm hearing in my neighborhood, at school and around in voter circles they'd all be looking for new jobs. It seems the games of that department have become pretty public, taxpayers are quite aware of the network and will tolerate no more. Sooner or later it always catches up...looks like sooner is coming.
