Since returning from his Southeast Whitehouse, Conservacrat F. James Germano has been busy directing the actions of his students Jeffery Spain and Louis Cotrona. Perhaps his most vocal and venomous words have been heard at McDonald's in Wynantskill where the former Democratic Chairman holds court with his loyal followers nearly every morning.
Word his that Mr. Germano is obsessed with getting Highway Superintendent Mark Premo. We won’t use some of the more colorful language used to describe his dislike for Mr. Premo, but suffice to say he wants to get even with Premo because he refused to disavow Dan Ashley during the bitter primary campaign last fall.
With his allies running both the Conservative and Democratic Committees, Jim is flexing his muscle, most of which is between his ears in this case, to endorse anyone in place of Premo. Morning coffee hasn’t been the same since Germano teamed up with the GOP team and Casale Excavating crew to take over these political committees.
Of course money and political favors are the prime motivators for these players. Germano’s relationship with Casale Excavating has been a subject of much awe in Democratic circles with persistent talk that he was actually put on Casale’s payroll while Democratic Chairman while the company was building one of the water districts in town. Talk is also frequent that Casale was so grateful about his efforts to secure contracts that he actually got him a Cadillac for his use.
Whether this talk has substance is anyone’s guess, but there is no doubt about the talk emanating from Germano at his morning Court at McDonald’s which speaks of getting Mark Premo and unfortunately, his Democratic mouth piece, Chairman Jeff Spain is an obedient servant.

well i can tell you one thing,mark premo doesn't talk about or behind peoples back...if he's got a bone to pick with you he'll let you know. the town has never been served as well as it has with mark as h'way super......
what this town needs is MORE people like Mark Premo....by: joe spairana---appointed "real dem" by this blog..

Very interesting article...but you are missing some background. For years Premo went to the Dem Committee under Germano seeking their endorsement for Highway Supervisor.The Gemano, Connolly, Spain group would not hear of it and stacked the caucus to endorse Republican, DICKIE ROBERTS. It looks like honest, hardworking people don't appeal to this faction. If you're not willing to work for certain "families'" private agendas you're not welcome. So many good dems were forced out of the party during those years. The sad thing is that over the past few years many of us were thinking of coming back but with Germano in control again that will not happen. Two steps forward, one back? How about two steps forward, four back!
