"Impound" at the Compound
Town hall is all the buzz with auditors from the State Comptroller’s Office doing a painstaking accounting of the loose financial controls that appear to govern payments for the Town’s Conservative Contractor, Casale Excavating. At the January Town Board meeting the Board voted 3-2 to disapprove an $82,000 check the Conservative Supervisor gave to Conservative Chairman’s company a month earlier without Town Board approval. Instead the Town Board voted 3-2 to ask the State Comptroller to audit and investigate the payments. The Supervisor voted against the audit but not the payment to Casale.
Efforts to review the minutes of that meeting are being rebuffed by records custodian Kathryn Connolly who says the minutes stored in her vaulted compound have been “impounded” by the State Comptroller. “No can see, no can tell!” must be the hoped for story line.
Efforts to recover the money improperly expended have been equally thwarted since the contractor boasted that he already cashed the check.
The North Greenbush Pipeline proposes that the Town Clerk impound the money and give Mr. Casale a copy of the minutes until the State Comptroller releases his determination on the compound impounds this summer.
Gee, we wonder if he impounded the video tape of the meeting?

Now there's a picture!
If the people of this town only knew how much Ms. Connolly is working with Evers to thwart that master plan for development they would throw her out of office.
