It’s only $80,000. So what’s all the fuss North Greenbush? That’s the amount of a grant the Rensselaer County IDA is willing to give the town to pay for its Comprehensive Plan for development. After the Town Board voted to accept the grant in a 4-1 vote (Councilman Kern opposed),on March 8th, the matter should have been but to bed and the company put to work to write the proposal.
But the Town Supervisor refused to sign the contract. He continued to stall until angry Board members called a Special Meeting to allow someone else to sign it in a resolution that severely criticized the Supervisor’s dereliction.
Predictably, the night of the Special Meeting, March 22nd, the Supervisor announced he had signed the contracts. He thus avoided the passage of the embarrassing resolution. Done, right? Nope, yesterday angry Board members filed yet another Special Meeting notice because the Supervisor has been sitting on the signed originals of the contracts, refusing to deliver them to the County IDA.
Childish you say? Yes indeed! He votes for it and then does everything possible to keep it from happening, risking $80,000 in the process. And people wonder why the Town Board is dysfunctional!
What's Coming?
